The 2023 Darwin Harbour Round boundary is a line from Night cliff Jetty through to Mandorah Jetty. You may fish anywhere that you like inside of the boundary including the harbour arms.

The usual fishing start and finish times apply. 6am Saturday 19th August to 6pm Sunday 20th August 2023.

As you may all be aware Darwin Harbour over the last few seasons has seen an increase in shipping from Gas, Military and live export, it is important to understand this and remain clear of Darwin Harbour shipping channels including avoiding anchoring in any shipping lane, and always give way to larger vessels as their maneuverability is greatly reduced at slow speed then a smaller recreational vessel.  As a general rule never pass in front of a large merchant ship always proceed to pass via the Stern (back of the ship)

There is a strong chance water police will be out and about over that weekend so make sure you have the required safety gear before heading out.

if you are not sure about what safety gear is required for your type of vessel, please check out the AMSA website for some great information.

Home (

Operating in the  harbour there may be a good chance we will bump into our boys in blue on jet skis or their purpose built patrol craft so if you are going to enjoy a refreshing ale or 3 just be mindful don’t drink and drive Home, for those of us staying out on the water over the weekend, I would like to have a raft up (get together) for some laughs, and a few refreshing ales, keep a lookout on our social media pages for more info on location within Darwin Harbour.

It is important to note that as we are competing within the confines of Darwin Harbour, we need to be aware that vhf channels that are in use in Darwin Harbour, please be considerate and do not use the following channels as chit chat, I would strongly suggest the use of your Mobile phone when in range.

With the end of the dry season upon us there is still a large portion of Non-residential fisho’s in the region and although the way they operate their vessel with launching and recovery maybe different to ours we are all reminded as a competition and highly visible with our bright unique shirts I would just ask to be patient and courtesy at ramps and if possible, offer assistance if you see a situation going pear shape when launching or recovering.
